4th-Jun-2006 07:44 am - Lots of happenings in Vassie Land...
Mr. Crowley
It's a big news day for us at VL, so I will announce it all here.

1- The Star Tribune wrote about June, 6, 2006  and they have a pretty sweet quote by me on the bottom.  He excluded the bit about how the number "6" looks like a frowning eye, but whatever.  It's press baby.  Speaking of 6/6/6, be sure to tune into Rasputin Catamite on that day for a very special episode.  Heh, heh, heh!

2- Ace and Bog are back... sort of.

3- Last month's Catnose episode is in the archives, as well as the new Spanish episode.  Enjoy!

4- I will probably will be sending Evites later this month, but everyone who reads this post is invited to a little something on July 5th... drum roll please.  Please be sure to spread the word!  If you have never been to Rice or the print shop, be sure to stop by.  ;D

Videos

This is my favorite music video ever, and I used to sing the entire song at random intervals back in high school.  Only a mind suffering from alcoholic delirium could come up with something this damned perfect!  If you think today's mashups are convoluted, try to name all the samples on this track.  It's the most derranged song ever with the most derranged video ever.  Only Barnes & Barnes Fish Heads gets this close to being so horrifyingly amateurish and bizarre.  Okay, maybe Technohead's hippy outwitting the evil inflatable-hammer-wielding skinheads falls under this category too.  :D

Work and Play

In a flash of brilliance, I realized a promo job I thought I had on Monday, is actually for Wednesday.  Oh well, I got to visit mom, and a Puerto Rican meal out of the deal.  Earlier that day Loki and I ate homemade peanut butter caramel rolls at his granma's house, and visited the graveyard before anyone else showed up for Memorial day madness, to pay those who died in battle.  It was a solemn time to reflect.  Not fancy, but it worked for us.

Frustration was needing one of four specific artists for a horrid little logo design involving animals I'm horrible at drawing (my first rough was rejected unequivolcally already), that's due ASAP, and no one is quite awake enough to answer the phone.  Vas needed to be patient.  I was sure one, if not all of these artist would call back.  It's just that I want it all and I want it now.  GAH!  Fortunately, the problem has been solved -- now let's hope the client won't reject this second proposal.  *Crossing fingers.*  Fortunately, the client with the four expensive booklets that we created for him was happier than a clam, so things balance out.  I have to ship out a mess of raffle tickets pending a phone call from the distributor, so I am nervous.  The card deck customer is having difficulty getting my emails.  Are any of you getting bounces from my address at all?  Anyway, my sanity has been maintained solely because my husband stopped with a delicious pasta lunch.

I am SO relieved!  My printer vendor informed me that our Kyocera payments are on a monthly, not quarterly basis.  THAT is a serious relief, but a wakeup call to start a business savings account in addition to the checking.  I also REALLY need to advertise.  I need to increase the rate of new customers.

Stef is almost done with Catnose Her roughs are beyond gorgeous and I can't wait to send the finished product to Lemmecheck.  In an unusual turn of events, I'm halfway done with Polska, Sucka! issue #7 a full 16 days before the deadline!  If Thien keeps her schedule up, it might actually be mailed out BEFORE the deadline.  I am actually giddy over the two Victorian projects we have on the slab -- both are for separate clients, and the jobs are very exciting.  Justin and I are pretty eager to get going on them.  I have all the photography done for next week's Rasputin Catmite, all I need is assemble them and type the text.

To my Friends

I am keeping up with blogs, but my brain is too fried to comment, so thank you much for being understanding.
24th-Apr-2006 09:05 am - I have the best workers ever!

Misty is going through our receipts (without any prompting from me) and entering them into our database, as the print shop and VL prepare to merge financial records. The shop database will match the VL database very soon. WOW!

Both Stef and Thien have sent me GORGEOUS roughs of their respective projects, before deadline. Thein needed minor corrections with her word bubble measurements, and Stef just needed very minor anatomy corrections. Otherwise, both of them exceeded my expectations. I am absolutely plum delighted two have these two extremely talented artist on board.

This is definitely a wonderful thing to wake up to in the morning.

The terrible triad of Siberia (mature audiences) has a new episode reflecting my general mood after this weekend's massive Suckathon.
